Driver accused of OVI after smashing gas meter in Lorain

LORAIN – Police say a 39-year-old city man is charged with drunk driving after his car rammed into a West 23rd Street building at Lexington Avenue around 9:30 pm on Saturday, damaging the gas meter.

Witnesses pointed officers to the direction of Brandon Brazile after he fled to a nearby residence. He was transported to Mercy Health with a head injury suffered in the wreck.

Officers say when they ran the plates on the white 2002 Mercedes E320 they discovered Brazile’s driver’s license was also under suspension.

Lorain Fire Department was called to disable the gas line until repairs can be made.
