Finally! Lorain Police getting new cruisers

Up next, tackling the issue of Fire Dept staffing

LORAIN – Lorain Police are getting 30 new 2020 model-year vehicles to replace out-dated and high-mileage fleet of cruisers. Our Michael Kelly has details…

As for the vehicles, the city will lease them the first three years before taking ownership. Aging Ford Crown Victoria’s will be traded in for just under $500 apiece. The first shipment of replacements are expected to arrive in December or January.

One area the city is counting on saving – repair costs. The police officers union says several cruisers break down on the job – calling the need for replacement “dire”.
